10 Years!

Randy and I were married 10 years ago today! Happy Anniversary, Baby!

This morning I was thinking about how Randy and I met. I was 18 years old. We were in the same FHE group at Ricks College in Rexburg, ID-- now BYU-Idaho. Randy thought I was a weird skater chick and I thought Randy was an over-confident jackass. One day I ended up walking home from class with Randy's gangling roommate, Joe, who locked himself out of his apartment. I invited him over to hang out and have something to eat. (I found out later that this guy and Randy used to make bets to see how many times they could get a free meal from a girl each week. Joe didn't even lock himself out. Seriously, morons.) Joe and I watched The Simpsons while eating burritos. The next day and most days after, Joe and Randy showed up at 5 o'clock to watch The Simpsons at my place. It was our thing. Watching The Simpsons together made me wonder if Randy was really a jackass or if he just acted like one.

Then came MORP. A dance where girls asked guys. Super. I hated dances so I was off the hook. But then the phone rang. Randy asked me if I wanted to go to the dance. I told him that I didn't do dances and no thank you. Randy obviously expecting that answer went on to ask if I wanted to partcipate in the "MORP festivities" and then skip the dance and go to a movie or grab something to eat. Ugh. "Okay," I said. I found out later that Randy only asked me to avoid being asked by another girl. Nice.

I can't remember the theme of the dance, but I remember the girls were dressed up in some "theme-y" way. I strayed a little from whatever the theme was. I didn't want to give Randy any indication that I was even remotely interested in him so I wore jeans and a t-shirt. I put my short hair in pig tails on top of my head so they pointed straight up. Yeah, I looked like an idiot. I don't remember Randy's reaction, but I remember it didn't phase him in the least. He wasn't annoyed, embarrassed, anything.

We ended up going to the dance and much to my suprise, I actually had a lot of fun. We were friends after that and things just got better from there.

Anyway, that's how I met my awesome husband. I love you, Randy!

I would not have pegged you as a weird skater chick type of teenager. I need pictures so I can get a visual image. Especially if you have pictures with your hair in pigtails on top of your head. :)

This is all wrong. I wanna hear the story where Randy put his hand out and you put your hand in his to which Randy replied, "Wow, I was just wanting on of the cookies, but I'll take your hand," or something like that.

Congrats Sarah. I love having you as a sister and totally awesome friend...and Randy's ok, I guess.

I didn't expect you to put up with me for more than a couple years.

Thank heaven for patient women.

Happy Anniversary guys! Love your wedding pic. It's how I still remember you (not that I'd know if you look any different).
